WA Police charge Perth teen over violent robbery of mum with pram in Ashfield

CCTV has captured a violent robbery of a mother as she pushed her two children in a pram in Perth's eastern suburbs.

The footage shows a teenage girl dragging the woman by her hair while repeatedly hitting her over the head, knocking the pram over in the process.

Police allege the 37-year-old woman was walking with her children at about 12.40pm in Smallman Place in Ashfield on Monday when she was assaulted by the 15-year-old girl, who tried to steal her handbag.

The girl was taken into custody a short time later at an address in Ashfield and charged with one count of robbery.

She is due to face the Geraldton Magistrates Court on September 13.

Midland Detectives are appealing for information in relation to the incident and released the CCTV vision in an effort to identify the movements of the people depicted.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
