Best VV Ultimatum Hollow Traits Ranked
Unlike VV Ultimatum Clans, which are more like inherited stat bonuses, Hollow Traits feel more physical and transformation-based. Some traits make your Hollow faster, some make it tankier, and others improve specific combat tools such as Cero or Hakuda damage. Because of that, the best Hollow Traits in VV Ultimatum depend heavily on your build and playstyle.
VV Ultimatum Hollow Traits are visible mutations that change your Hollow’s appearance while also giving you extra stats, passive bonuses, or special effects. These traits are part of Hollow (Arrancar) progression, and they become especially important later on because they can directly affect your movement, defense, Cero, Resurrección duration, melee damage, posture, and even stealth. Here's how we rank them.
| Hollow Trait | Passives & Evaluation |
|---|---|
Iron SkinS TierVisual Change: Thick iron-like skin, similar to an Arrancar's Hierro. |
Evaluation: One of the safest traits overall. The defense and posture regen help in nearly every melee-heavy fight, making it excellent for brawlers and durable Arrancar builds. |
WingsS TierVisual Change: Large wings. |
Evaluation: A top-tier mobility trait with no downside. It helps with chasing, escaping, repositioning, and keeping pressure during Resurrección. |
Deadly ClawsS TierVisual Change: Blunt base attacks become sharp. |
Evaluation: Excellent for aggressive melee/Hakuda builds. Extra Hakuda damage and AP pressure make it one of the best offensive Hollow traits. |
TailboneS TierVisual Change: Long bony tail. Laser Ceros. |
Evaluation: The damage boost is massive for Cero-focused play. The thinner beam makes aim more important, but the payoff is worth it if you can land your Ceros. |
Innocuous PresenceS TierVisual Change: No one really notices you. |
Evaluation: A strong PvP and roaming trait. Hidden identity, hidden reiatsu, extra speed, and longer Resurrección all support ambushes, escapes, and cleaner engagements. |
SkinnyA TierVisual Change: You are a skinnier Hollow. |
Evaluation: Great for speed-based players who want to kite, chase, or disengage. The defense penalty keeps it below S Tier, but the movement value is very real. |
Dense MusclesA TierVisual Change: Increased muscle density. |
Evaluation: A reliable hybrid melee trait. The damage bonuses are modest, but the long Resurrección extension makes it valuable in drawn-out fights. |
TentaclesA TierVisual Change: Twin tentacles. |
Evaluation: Strong for melee pressure and damage-over-time play. The weapon damage penalty hurts pure weapon builds, but poison gives it good fight value. |
GiantA TierVisual Change: You get bigger. |
Evaluation: Excellent if you want to play tanky and survive trades. The speed loss is noticeable, so it fits bruisers better than chase-heavy builds. |
Back ScalesB TierVisual Change: Insect-like vertebrae. |
Evaluation: Useful for Cero uptime and longer Resurrección windows, but the damage penalty makes it more of a utility pick than a pure damage trait. |
EnergizedB TierVisual Change: Explosive power bubbles beneath your skin. |
Evaluation: Best for Kido-leaning or hybrid builds. It is not bad, but it needs the right stat direction to beat more universal traits. |
ExoskeletonB TierVisual Change: A stronger skeletal structure. |
Evaluation: A decent defensive trait, especially for longer fights. However, the movement penalty and situational healthpack value keep it below stronger tank options. |
HornsC TierVisual Change: You get horns. |
Evaluation: Makes Ceros easier to land, but it does not add damage, speed, defense, or duration. Useful as flavor or support for Cero builds, but low priority by itself. |
How to Get Hollow Traits in VV Ultimatum
You can get Hollow Traits while progressing as a Hollow. As you defeat other Hollows, you have a chance to obtain traits. The exact drop rate is not currently clear, but the important thing to know is that traits are tied to Hollow progression and should be planned before you fully commit to becoming an Arrancar.
You can also refuse a Hollow Trait if you do not want it. This is actually quite important because your trait slots are limited, and some traits come with downsides, such as reduced movement speed, reduced Cero damage, or lower defenses.

When Are Hollow Traits Active?
Hollow Traits are only active in Resurrección once you become an Arrancar. That means these bonuses are not always-on passives in every situation. They come online when you activate your Resurrección mode, which is why traits that extend Resurrección duration, improve Cero, or make you harder to kill can be very valuable.
I consider this important for my Tier List a lot; a trait should not only be judged by its raw stat numbers. You also need to consider how useful that trait is during the actual Resurrección window, where fights are often decided by pressure, mobility, burst damage, and survivability.
How Many Hollow Traits Can You Have?
The number of Hollow Traits you can have depends on your Hollow stage. Base Hollow forms can have up to two traits, Adjuchas can have three traits, and Vasto Lorde can have four traits.
This is one of the biggest reasons why rushing into Arrancar too early is not always recommended. A Menoscar only gets two VV Ultimatum Hollow Traits, while an Adjucar can have three, and a Vastocar can have four. Since traits can strongly affect your final build, it is usually better to progress further as a Hollow and collect the traits you actually want before evolving.
How to Change Hollow Traits in VV Ultimatum
Before progressing to Vastocar, it's highly recommended that you obtain all the Traits you want, as they become permanent and can no longer be changed after evolution. This is especially important if you are aiming for a specific build, such as a fast melee Hollow, a tanky bruiser, or a Cero-focused Arrancar.
In simple terms, Hollow Traits are not something you should ignore while leveling. They can shape your final Arrancar build, and getting the wrong combination can leave you with passives that do not support your playstyle. Evolving into a Vastocar will reset your stats, but it also transforms you into an Arrancar, granting access to your Arrancar weapon and opening the next stage of character progression.
Best Hollow Traits for Melee Builds
Melee-focused Hollow builds should prioritize traits that improve Hakuda damage, defense, posture, speed, or pressure. Deadly Claws is one of the best traits for this because it increases Hakuda Damage and adds Max AP, making it ideal for aggressive brawlers. Iron Skin is also excellent because it helps you survive trades and recover posture more effectively.
Dense Muscles is another strong melee option because it gives both Weapon Damage and Hakuda Damage while also increasing Resurrección duration. Tentacles can also work well for melee pressure because it gives your melee attacks a chance to inflict poison damage, though the Weapon Damage penalty makes it slightly less universal
Best Hollow Traits for Cero Builds
Cero is a Hollow energy beam attack. In VV Ultimatum. Cero-focused builds should look at Tailbone, Back Scales, and Horns. Tailbone is the strongest damage option because it increases Cero damage by 20%, but the beam becomes thinner, so it is better for players who can aim consistently.
Back Scales is more of a utility Cero trait. It makes Cero charge faster and increases Resurrección duration, but it also lowers Cero damage. Horns improves Cero width and length, making the beam easier to land, but it does not increase damage. Because of that, Horns is useful but less valuable than Tailbone if you care about raw burst damage.
Best Hollow Traits for Mobility Builds
If you want a fast Hollow build, Wings, Skinny, and Innocuous Presence are the main traits to watch. Wings is one of the best overall mobility traits because it improves Movement Speed, Shunpo Stamina, and Shunpo Speed without any downside.
Skinny gives an even bigger Movement Speed bonus, but it lowers Melee Defense, making it better for players who rely on positioning instead of trading hits. Innocuous Presence is also very strong because it gives Movement Speed while hiding your name and reiatsu signature, making it useful for PvP, ambushes, and escaping bad fights.
Best Hollow Traits for Tank Builds
Tankier Hollow builds should focus on Iron Skin, Giant, and Exoskeleton. Iron Skin is one of the safest picks because it gives Melee Defense and a large Posture Regen bonus. Giant gives even more Melee Defense and some Kido Defense, but the speed penalty means it fits bruiser-style builds better than fast chase builds.
Exoskeleton gives Melee Defense, extra Posture, and a bigger healthpack from Resurrection, but the Movement Speed penalty makes it less flexible. It is still useful if you want a more defensive setup, but Iron Skin and Giant are generally easier to value.
