A concerned member of the community is appealing on behalf of an elderly woman after she was discovered living in squalid conditions with no heating.
Irene from Huyton, Merseyside now lives with just one tiny electric heater which she uses to try and warm her entire home after her gas supply was isolated, reports Liverpool Echo.
It leaves her without any central heating or hot water, causing one local resident to worry she "may not survive another winter".
Irene is vulnerable and relies on oxygen cannisters, making the grim conditions she is living in dangerous for her health.
One alarming photograph shared online shows a damaged door at the rear of the property which does not close properly, and there is also a large hole in one of her walls.
Another shows her making a simple meal of jam on toast - as she has no other way of making food.
But it is her dire heating situation that has left one member of the community especially worried for her.
James Anderson runs Depher Community Interest Company, a plumbing and heating repair firm that works to help people who are living in squalid conditions and cannot afford to maintain properties.
He has now shared images online of her property in order to drum up support from people in the community, as he believes she needs urgent help.
Recalling how he got involved with her case to the ECHO, James said: "It was Irene's neighbour that first alerted us to the situation as she was very worried.
"We went to the house and it was pretty terrible - it was freezing too as she has no heating. Irene has had to get used to this, but she shouldn't have to - she nearly cried when we told her we were going to help her out."
James says he set up Depher following the sad death of his young son several years ago, something which made him want to do something positive to help people that would have made his son proud.
In recent times he has seen people living in increasingly poor conditions, as they can no longer afford to make any repairs to their homes.
James is now hoping that through donations and offers of help from local companies, vital work can begin to make Irene's home safe to live in again.
Making a plea for Irene, he added: "We need quite a lot of help. We need a door fitter, a kitchen fitter, a carpet fitter, plumbers, gas engineers and someone to provide a skip and help clear out the property.
"We also welcome any donations from people that will help with the project."
Anyone who wishes to contribute to improvements at Irene's home can donate at her GoFundMe page.
