Voyeur booked for harassing woman, recording videos

HYDERABAD: Banjara Hills police booked a case against a former worker of a boutique on Road No. 92, Jubilee Hills, for secretly recording videos of a woman colleague and harassing her by sending the obscene content to her.

The 32-year-old woman was an accountant in the boutique where the 25-year-old accused worked as a housekeeping staff. The complainant quit the job one year ago and the offender resigned seven months ago. The accused is a native of West Bengal.

According to police, for a long time after leaving the job, the woman was unaware of the offender’s crime. “In March this year, she received a set of video grabs on WhatsApp sent from an unidentified mobile number,” Banjara Hills sub-inspector T Srikanth Goud said.

The video grabs contained her images while she was rearranging her clothes in the washroom and changing rooms of the boutique. It took some time for the woman to realise that the visuals were captured in the boutique where she used to work.

“The offender never revealed his identity to the complainant. He only used to say hi or hello,” Banjara Hills inspector K Nageshwar Rao said.

The woman did not approach police right away after receiving the video grabs in March as the offender did not bother her. Her marriage was fixed recently and a few days ago, the offender again sent her the same set of video grabs, forcing her to approach police on Wednesday.

Police registered a case under IPC section of voyeurism against the accused, who is currently in West Bengal. A team will be sent to nab him.
