
It’s official: Volvo’s big, legendary estate, the V90, previously known as the 960, 850, 700 and 240, is dead. After decades of faithful service - and starring in countless magazine ads, picking up grandfather clocks from antique shops - the firm says it will no longer produce it, focusing on SUVs instead.
There are still a few new V90s left on sale and Volvo continues to produce the smaller V60 estate, but families long-accustomed to the practical elegance of the famous big workhorse and its enormous boot are having to look elsewhere.
