Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife First Lady Olena Zelenska have given Piers Morgan Uncensored a world exclusive interview today - their first to international TV broadcasters as a couple. During an emotional and candid hour-long interview, the pair spoke openly about topics ranging from the toll the war has taken on their family, how they feel about Vladimir Putin, President Biden and Boris Johnson to the current UK leadership debate.
The interview will mark a special week of programming on TalkTV. Piers Morgan Uncensored in Ukraine kicks off tonight with special reports from the streets of Kyiv. The President and the First Lady’s exclusive will air on the channel on Wednesday at 8pm. It will also be broadcast on Fox Nation in the USA and Sky News Australia.
Mr Morgan said: “There is a growing concern that the world is now suffering war fatigue and moving on from Ukraine, right when the people there most need our support, so I wanted to go there for the week to refocus attention on the biggest crisis Europe has seen since World War 2. This war is our war.”
The host travelled to Kyiv for an audience with the couple and he earlier moderated, at the invitation of the First Lady, the Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen on Saturday. An international audience, based in Kyiv, Warsaw, London and Washington attended a series of sessions for the summit, entitled Ukraine and the World: The Future We (Re)build Together.
Speakers in Kyiv were joined by First Ladies around the world, including the First Lady of Latvia, Andra Levite, and the First Lady of Lithuania, Diana Nepaitė. A number of famous faces, including former footballer David Beckham, Hollywood star Mila Kunis and actor Richard Gere, spoke during the six-hour conference.
Saturday’s summit marked the 150th day of the war. Brigitte Macron, First Lady of France, and Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States and Sarah, The Duchess of York, also sent messages of support. Singer Ellie Goulding made a moving speech and sang a Ukrainian song live at the event.
The afternoon's sessions discussed issues ranging such as mental health, how to protect children, and post-war reconstruction. The organisers were looking for donations that would help fund much needed ambulances.
