PM has treated the public with utter contempt - he needs to resign

Liar Boris Johnson has nowhere left to hide now it has emerged that a Covid lockdown law-breaking birthday party was held for him in Downing Street.

Even a fibber as shameless as the charlatan in Number 10 cannot pretend he did not know a gathering with a cake and a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday by 30 revellers was a party instead of a work event.

What more evidence is required by the police, Sue Gray, Conservative MPs, Parliament and the British people to conclude that Johnson broke the law, lied repeatedly when caught and is totally unfit to lead our nation?

The Cabinet room bash in June 2020 – held when families could not say goodbye to dying loved ones, funerals were tightly limited and singing widely banned – will be the final straw for many.

Johnson has treated the public with utter contempt, every day he is allowed to remain in office adds insult to injury for those he took for fools.

If he had any honour the Prime Minister would resign immediately.

Threat to world

BY massing troops on Ukraine’s border in Russia and client state Belarus, authoritarian nationalist Vladimir Putin is doing far more than sabre rattling.

The threat to unleash Europe’s biggest invasion since the end of the Second World War is an aggressive attack on freedom and democracy by a despotic leader.

Invade Ukraine and the whole world loses as the economic, political as well as military repercussions will be devastating.

Engaging Putin may not trigger sustainable peace but exploring every route to avoiding an invasion is better than fighting one off.

Soap stand-off

CORONATION Street and Emmerdale are going head-to-head with EastEnders.

The clash for viewers between Weatherfield, The Woolpack and Walford will divide the legion of fans who watch the three soaps.

Stakes are high and may the best show win.
