Vogue Williams recalls moment she drank her own urine - and where she 'went wrong'

TV star Vogue Williams has recalled how she would “rather die of dehydration” than drink her own urine again.

In 2015, the model and presenter was crowned the ultimate contestant in ITV's Bear Grylls: Mission Survive after 12 days in the jungle, beating athlete Kelly Holmes and rugby player Mike Tindall.

But during filming, Vogue famously drank her own urine on the show.

The mum-of-two said: “Honestly it was one of the most disgusting….

Asked how thirsty you would need to be to drink your own urine, she said: “I couldn’t be thirsty enough. I would rather die of dehydration,” but Spencer quipped: “Well your mind would play tricks on you, you’d drink gasoline before you die.”

But Vogue responded: “Drinking your own wee is not going to rehydrate you. It’s all the bad stuff coming out.”

Asked why she thought Bear was making her do it, she said on her Spencer and Vogue podcast: “I don’t know.”

The Dubliner reckons she went wrong by not drinking her morning urine.

“I did my morning wee - way too yellow. Not nice. Everyone knows a morning wee. Then I drank a litre and a half of water, and I did another two wees and then the third wee – because I had to wee so much - that was the wee I saved.

“I think that is where I went wrong because everyone with the really potent yellow wee seemed to drink it easier than I did.”

But Spencer disagreed, with Vogue adding: “I double gulped, and I would vomit, and then I would double gulp and it would come back up.”

“So I actually got more dehydrated than I would’ve been before with the vomit,” she added.

Vogue said since that was publicised, she realised she “has a line” on shows.

But she said she felt cool when her kids watched it, adding: “Theodore was watching it, absolutely loving it because I was eating scorpions and stuff. I couldn’t believe it, I felt so cool.”
