Vodafone to expand in Stoke-on-Trent with major recruitment drive for 300 new sales staff

Communications giant Vodafone has launched a major recruitment drive which will see hundreds of new jobs created in Stoke-on-Trent.

The company is on the look out for 300 new staff for its purpose-built contact centre, based on Festival Park, as part of a wider expansion plan.

Vodafone wants to turn its Stoke-on-Trent base into a 'customer centre of sales excellence' which will offer the "very latest" in training facilities for its customer service and retail staff.

Now it wants to boost its workforce over the next 12 months with an additional 300 sales staff.

Current vacancies include full-time customer relations advisor roles, desk-based account managers, full-time web chat sales advisors and part-time inbound sales advisors.

The new jobs will take Vodafone's total Stoke-on-Trent workforce to more than 900.

Jon Shaw, UK head of consumer sales at Vodafone, said: "We're boosting our customer team at Festival Park by more than 300 roles over the next year – a reflection of the fantastic results that the team in Stoke-on-Trent has been delivering for us. We're also making the site our customer centre of sales excellence, putting it at the heart of our business, and giving our people the very latest in training facilities.

"We're proud to be part of the Stoke-on-Trent family and we look forward to more great people joining us at our amazing centre in Festival Park."

While the majority of the roles will be based at the call centre, there are a number of 'blended working' opportunities which would allow people to work both in the office and at home.

Clare Corkish, UK HR director for Vodafone, said: "This is an exciting time for Vodafone UK as we increase recruitment and investment in our people, and move forward with our future ready way of working based on flexibility and trust.

"The pandemic forced us to make many changes – we've learned a lot from these and have been able to make some big improvements to the way in which we work as a result.

"With our new approach, we're confident that we can give our teams a great working environment with flexibility to suit them, recruit from more parts of the UK from now on, and continue to improve the service we provide to our customers."
