Vladimir Putin's TV mouthpiece warns 'nuclear war coming where only mutants live'

A Vladimir Putin TV propagandist has said that “nuclear war is coming”, where only “mutants” will survive, due to the West sending weapons to Ukraine.

After launching the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Putin put his nuclear forces on high alert and insinuated that he would be prepared to use them if the West stood in the way of his plans.

But while NATO has not put troops in Ukraine, members have individually supplied weapons.

And Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that the UK has been providing weapons Kyiv needs to fight the war with Russia and thanked Prime Minister Boris Johnson for "complete" understanding of the needs.

Britain said on Monday that, in coordination with the United States, it will supply Ukraine with multiple-launch rocket systems that can strike targets up to 50 miles away as part of a new UK military aid for Kyiv.

"I am grateful to Prime Minister Boris Johnson for the complete understanding of our demands and preparedness to provide Ukraine with exactly the weapons that it so needs to protect the lives of our people," Zelensky said in his nightly video address.

It came after Russian television presenter Vladimir Solovyov claimed that nuclear war was now brewing and we are facing "bloody pages of world history".

During his show, with his words translated by Russian Media Monitor, he also said "everything is moving in that direction".

He said on Russia1 channel: "I hope we'll live through this.

"If everything keeps progressing the way it is, only a couple of mutants in Lake Baikai will survive. The rest will be destroyed in a massive nuclear strike.

"Because if NATO decides they can place whatever they want on our borders, they'll be sending more and more of American weapons to Ukraine, Ukraine will fire and end up hitting one of our nuclear power plants, and here we go."

He added: "The process will quickly become uncontrollable. Everyone will get more than they asked for. Bang! And there's nothing left."

Another member of the panel had a similarly intimidating message, with Vitaly Tretyakov, a political analyst, even welcoming a nuclear war as it would be a moment of truth.

He said: "Yes, we should be happy. Except the young people may not share this definition of happiness. We've finally arrived. This is our last and decisive battle."
