TelevisaUnivision streaming service ViX has set a premiere date for its highly anticipated Timbiriche series and released a new batch of images that reveal one of the most consequential storylines the production will tackle: the relationship between Sasha Sokol and Luis de Llano.
The series will premiere Oct. 9 on ViX, with eight episodes running approximately 45 minutes each. The latest footage also offers a revealing look at Osvaldo Benavides as De Llano and Macarena García as Sokol, including a scene in which the two characters share an intimate embrace.
Sokol was 14 when her relationship with De Llano began and he was 39. She was performing with Timbiriche and in Vaselina at the time, while De Llano was an influential producer and representative connected to her career.
Their relationship became a major public controversy in 2022 after De Llano discussed it in an interview. Sokol subsequently spoke publicly about her experience and filed a civil lawsuit for moral damages.
A judge found De Llano civilly liable in 2023, a decision subsequently upheld by a civil appeals court. Mexico's Supreme Court ultimately upheld the judgment in June 2025. Among the remedies imposed were a public apology and publication of a summary of the judgment.
The image provides the strongest indication yet that the series will dramatize the relationship between the teenager artist and the powerful television producer, a story that has remained in the headlines more than four decades after it began and that recently resulted in De Llano's arrest for failing to comply with court-ordered measures in Sokol's civil case.
ViX describes the series as a dramatization inspired by the origins, evolution and rise of Timbiriche, exploring the "dreams, challenges, triumphs and conflicts" experienced by the young performers as a children's music project became one of Latin America's most influential pop phenomena. The production is directed by Humberto Hinojosa and produced by El Estudio.
The ensemble also includes Alberto Guerra, Jesusa Ochoa, Iker Solano, Sebastián Poza, Luis de la Rosa, Michelle Pellicer and Sol Wainer. Andrea Chaparro, Clara Dalmao, Michael Ronda and Leo Deluglio have also been linked to the production.
The new images are considerably more revealing, mixing the fictionalized footage with real moments in the bands's history, including the first time legendary TV presenter Raúl Velasco introduced them to the audience of his iconic show Siempre en Domingo.
The decision to depict Sokol and De Llano comes at a particularly sensitive moment.
De Llano was arrested in Mexico City on Sept. 2 after failing to comply with measures connected to the civil judgment Sokol won against him.
Mexico City's Secretariat of Citizen Security confirmed that officers executed a 15-hour administrative arrest order for contempt after De Llano failed to comply with orders issued by a judge. Sokol's attorneys said two arrest orders were connected to his failure to provide a court-ordered public apology and publish a summary of the judgment establishing his civil liability for moral damages.
De Llano ultimately spent nearly 24 hours in custody before being released Sept. 3. The two measures had originally contemplated 15 hours of administrative detention each.
The legal dispute has its roots in events dating back to Sokol's years as a teenage performer.
The series will revisit the creation and evolution of Timbiriche, which emerged in the early 1980s and became one of the defining groups of Mexican pop.
Its original members included Sokol, Benny Ibarra, Mariana Garza, Alix Bauer, Diego Schoening and Paulina Rubio. Over subsequent years, its ranks included future stars such as Thalía, Erik Rubín, Eduardo Capetillo, Edith Márquez and Biby Gaytán.
ViX first released images from the production this summer, showing several members of the ensemble but offering relatively few details about individual storylines. At the time, the platform said the series would explore both the triumphs and conflicts behind the group that became a cultural phenomenon.
