Helen Haines' condition has improved, hospital says

Injured federal politician Helen Haines' condition has improved following an alleged attack that has raised disturbing questions over the safety of women in Australian public life.

Dr Haines was now in a "serious but stable" condition, a spokesman for The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne said on Saturday.
