Virgin Trains’ plan to challenge Eurostar has taken a big step forward after the firm was granted track access for proposed services linking London to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam from 2030.
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the rail regulator, confirmed that it has approved Sir Richard Branson’s company to use tracks at London St Pancras and High Speed 1, the rail line linking the London station with the Channel Tunnel.
