Virgil van Dijk fires Liverpool teammates warning ahead of visit to Ibrox

FORMER Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has warned his Liverpool teammates that Rangers will be a different animal altogether next week at Ibrox.

The Dutchman strolled through the Reds' 2-0 home victory over Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side last night.

However, the experienced centre-back has told his fellow Liverpool stars that next week's tie will be a different test.

He also surprisingly admitted that he's never taken to the field at Ibrox.

He told the media: "They will have the fans there so it will make a big difference, especially at the beginning of the game.

“I don’t think Napoli scored until the 55th minute, so that shows you something.

“It’s going to be tough, especially in the beginning. But it’s also a game we should look forward to – after this weekend.

“I never played at Ibrox during my time in Scotland, actually.

“But going back to Scotland, I have great memories there. I had two seasons there and loved my time there.

“It will be good to be back there. But the focus will be on winning the game and playing a good game.

“Their keeper kept them in the game at Anfield - but we found a way.”
