Virat Kohli's fitness secret revealed by wife Anushka Sharma: 'Sleep is non-negotiable'

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli's incredible fitness and consistency continue to be the cornerstone of his cricketing success. He recently ended his long century drought by scoring his 30th Test century in India's commanding 295-run victory over Australia in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.

While fans marvel at the 36-year-old's ability to maintain peak performance, his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, has shed light on the secret behind his remarkable fitness.

In a video that has gone viral on social media ahead of the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide, Anushka spoke about Kohli's unwavering commitment to his health and lifestyle. "Let me be very honest about it, Virat is incredibly disciplined about his health and fitness. I think this is also happening in our industry now," she said, emphasizing his role as a trailblazer in healthy living.

Anushka revealed the daily habits that have helped Kohli sustain his level of excellence over the years. "Every morning without fail, he is up early doing cardio or HIIT, and practicing cricket with me. His diet is clean - no junk food or sugary drinks. Can you believe he hasn't eaten butter chicken in almost 10 years?"

She also stressed how essential rest is in Kohli's routine. "Sleep is non-negotiable for him. He ensures he gets enough rest. It's the key to staying sharp and performing at his best. He always says - that is something you have control over."

Anushka concluded by highlighting what sets Kohli apart. "His commitment to every aspect of his lifestyle is what makes him not just a world-class athlete, but also an inspiration to everyone around him."

WATCH:

Kohli's discipline has been instrumental in bouncing back from a recent dip in form. His century in Perth marked his tenth against Australia Down Under, placing him just one short of Sir Donald Bradman's record for centuries against the same opposition away from home - 11 vs England.

As India prepare for the crucial Pink Ball Test starting Friday in Adelaide, Kohli's fitness and form will play a pivotal role in the team's quest to secure a spot in the World Test Championship final at Lord's next year.
