Virat Kohli Leads Tributes for Rinku Singh After Father’s Demise

Star India batter Virat Kohli expressed his grief and extended heartfelt condolences through a post on X. Standing in solidarity with Rinku and his family during this challenging time, Kohli wrote that he was deeply saddened by the news and offered prayers for strength and peace. He concluded his message with “Om Shanti,” praying that Rinku finds strength in his father’s eternal blessings.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh also conveyed his sympathies. In his message, Harbhajan acknowledged the immense emotional difficulty Rinku must be facing, especially while remaining committed to national duties during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He offered prayers for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the grieving family.

Adding to the tributes, former India opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra shared a heartfelt message on social media. Chopra expressed sadness at the loss and prayed for courage and resilience for Rinku and his loved ones during this painful period.

Rinku had briefly left the Indian camp during the T20 World Cup after his father’s condition worsened following India’s first Super 8 fixture against South Africa. He rushed home to be by his father’s side before returning promptly to rejoin the squad in Chennai ahead of the clash against Zimbabwe.

Despite his swift return and commitment to the team, Rinku did not feature in the playing XI for the Zimbabwe match, as India opted for a different combination that included Sanju Samson opening alongside Abhishek Sharma.

The cricketing community continues to stand united with Rinku Singh and his family, offering prayers and strength as they navigate this deeply personal loss.
