NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli glanced at the big scoreboard, unsure if the ball had reached the boundary ropes. He was on 96. Seeking confirmation, he checked with keeper Alex Carey, who was equally uncertain, and then looked back at the scoreboard. As the 96 turned to 100, a beaming Kohli raised his hands, greeted by loud cheers from the Perth crowd. This marked his 30th Test century and 81st international ton.
After reaching the milestone, Kohli waved and blew kisses to his wife, Anushka Sharma, in celebration.
As he left the field, Kohli exchanged a few words with former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.
"Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes," Kohli shared.
"She knows what goes on in the head when you're not performing well. I'm not a guy who hangs around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for the country," the Indian superstar added.
