Viral hack for getting dog hair out of carpets leaves pet owners stunned

Pet owners will know the peril of having a wardrobe full of clothes seemingly never rid of dog hair, or sofa cushions with a smattering of fluff.

And while owners wouldn’t change their canine companions for the world, they can alter how they clean up pet hair to save time, patience and frankly, their sanity.

Fur gets absolutely everywhere, and sometimes, it feels like there’s no escape - but one TikToker has blown the minds of dog lovers with their viral hack for banishing it.

And the best part? You don’t need any gadgets or gizmos - just a regular household item you probably have lying around the house or in your car’s glove box.

TikTok user @badass.dog.family uploaded a short but popular video demonstrating how to use a window or floor squeegee to remove fur from your carpets.

In his video, Mike Sellers uses an extendable squeegee - but smaller hand-held versions that you can find in the car aisle at supermarkets work just as well.

The caption joked: “This will save me emptying the vacuum about 200 times.”

Viewers then see him use his squeegee to scrape over his carpet with seemingly little effort, and after just a few seconds of scraping, he amasses a large handful of dog hair that spills out of his hand.

The video quickly went viral, receiving more than 353,000 likes, 31,000 shares and thousands of comments, becoming his most popular video of the year.

One viewer commented: “Mind is blown!”

And another viewer dubbed the user, ‘the hero we didn’t know we needed.’

One TikTok user posted: “I have a husky, German Shepherd and an Akita mix so this is great info!”

And even cat owners got involved, writing: “Omg! Thank you for this. I have three cats (sorry not dogs) but this will literally do the same thing for me!”

Other commenters were more soothed by the video than the hack itself, writing: “Please do the whole floor and show us - it’s so satisfying!”

And forgetting the animals altogether, a final commenter concluded the discussion, asking: “What about human hair? Because I shed worse than my animals!”
