LUCKNOW: Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, several ministers, mayor, senior administrative and police officials and religious leaders cast their votes in Lucknow on Wednesday and then posted their photos, displaying their inked fingers, on social media to encourage voting.
Deputy CM Sharma and his wife cast their votes and then posted their pictures on social media while appealing people to come out and vote. Union minister Kaushal Kishore and state ministers Mahendra Singh, Brijesh Pathak, Mohsin Raza also came with their families to exercise franchise. Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia was also one of the first voters at her booth.
ACS Home, Awanish Awasthi and his wife Malini Awasthi appealed to people to vote after casting their own votes. Malini even sang a song in favour of voting.
ADG law and order, Prashant Kumar, and his wife Dimple Verma, who is an IAS officer, also voted and posted their pictures. Lucknow DM Abhishek Prakash and his wife exercised the franchise at LMC office. Shia cleric Maulana Saif Abbas, Imam Aishbagh Eidgah Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, son of Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, Kalbe Sibtain Noori also pressed the EVM button of their choice and appealed people to vote. Candidates from BJP, BSP, SP, AAP also came out with their supporters and families to vote.
