A violent thug hit his girlfriend over the head with a spade and placed a pillow over her face in a vicious attack.
Jake Shaw launched the savage ambush on his then on-and-off partner Kirsty Burrows following an argument over her dog, the Liverpool Echo reports. He struck her around the head with the spade as she fed their young son breakfast before throwing bags of dog faeces at her.
Shaw then picked up a knife and began cutting himself while holding their son, a court heard. The 30-year-old was locked up for 10 months at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday after admitting two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm.
