Violent garda killer Pearse McAuley released from jail after serving seven years for stabbing Sinn Fein TD ex-wife

Violent garda killer Pearse McAuley has been released from Castlerea prison after serving seven years for stabbing his ex-wife, Sinn Fein TD Pauline Tully, 13 times.

McAuley was sentenced to 12 years with four suspended in 2015 for the attack at Ms Tully’s home on Christmas Eve in 2014. The former Provo had been previously jailed for killing Det Garda Jerry McCabe in 1996.

Ms Tully who has two sons with McAuley has said she hopes he has moved on with his life and leaves her family alone.
