Violence in Civic fuelled by alcohol marks poor start to 2023, police say

Twenty-three drunk people were taken into police custody during New Year's Eve celebrations in Canberra, police saying crowd behaviour was poor in the city.

Twenty-six exclusion directions were issued to people for violent conduct.
