Vinicius Souza transfer accelerates as Celtic target locked in talks with Fenerbahce

Celtic could be handed a transfer blow as Vinicius Souza continues talks with Fenerbahce, according to Turkish media. Ange Postecoglou is keen on the Lommel midfielder as the Hoops boss looks to strenghten his squad in the middle of the park ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Record Sport previously reported the in-demand 23-year-old is set to lose a suitor after Fenerbahce were met with a "negative response" in their chase to land the midfield enforcer from Lommel. But the tables seem to have turned and now the Turkish giants are back in the race for the Brazilian.

Reports now claim Fenerbahce are continuing in their pursuit as they are in the market for reinforcing the midfield. Souza's current side are looking to land a fee in the range of €10million for the player. The Turkish side are in talks with Souza as well as William Carvalgo and William Arao.

Vinicius' stock is on the rise after his head-turning displays on loan at Mechelen last season. Reports on Saturday stated Fener had a £4.3m bid rejected, however, multiple updates in Turkey state the offer was in the region of £3.6m

The player is attracting interest from a number of clubs, with PSV Eindhoven and Club Brugge also linked alongside Celtic and Fenerbahçe. Elsewhere, Celtic are still trying to get a permanent deal for Jota over the fine with Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei also expected to put pen to paper and join the Parkheadside. The Hoops are also chasing striker Ryan Mmaee.
