NEW DELHI: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat's wait for a 'positive' outcome from her appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against her disqualification at the Paris Olympics has been extended yet again. The CAS has deferred its decision for the third time, now pushing the expected outcome to August 16.
Vinesh filed the appeal on August 7, the same day she was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during her second weigh-in, just before her gold medal bout against American wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt. This disqualification was a devastating blow to Vinesh, who had made history just a day earlier by becoming the first Indian female wrestler to reach an Olympic final in her third appearance at the Games.
