Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says his involvement in the loan of Wout Weghorst to Manchester United has been 'simple'.
Weghorst was due to fly in to Manchester on Thursday to complete his medical and finalise a half-season loan in time for Saturday's Manchester Derby. United will pay around £2.5million to Besiktas in order for the Turkish club to terminate their loan deal with the Dutchman, covering all wages for the remainder of the campaign also.
The terms of Weghorst's initial loan complicated matters, with no recall clause and instead an option for Besiktas to make the move permanent in the summer. Negotiations involved all three parties, with the Turkish outfit stubborn in their desire to keep a striker that had scored nine goals in the previous 18 games.

Protracted as they may have been, discussions between the three clubs look to have come to a head and Burnley boss Kompany has admitted he's had little involvement in the 30-year-old's imminent transfer.
"My involvement [in the deal] has been extremely simple," Kompany told Lancs Live. "The question I asked is that can he be recalled, yes or no? And the answer was no unless we paid a hefty transfer fee and we are not going to pay a transfer fee to get one of our own players back. That eliminated my involvement and the rest is between whoever the clubs are that are mentioned and until the end of the season we don't have much to say."
The Clarets boss added: "I think with this situation, it has to play out when it plays out. Every player with a contract with us is a player that, if he is wanting and willing and if everything is right, then it is a player that makes it easier for us than going into the market and spending whatever amount of money.
"But the crucial part is that he has to finish his season wherever that is and at the end of the season I will have a conversation with the player, which for me is the most important conversation, and that will then decide everything. But you are anticipating too much in thinking we are going to be in the Premier League but in my case, I am a Championship manager at a Championship club and I don't want to be thinking about being in the Premier League at all right now.
"We are a Championship team and he has just played in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, so he’s a good player and we can always used good players. He’s definitely one of them, but he’s now thinking of going to Man United and not in the Championship."
