An Egyptian asylum seeker failed in a last-ditch effort to stay in the UK after a judge rejected his claim of bisexuality. Karam Majdi, 27, argued that deportation would expose him to persecution in Egypt, but the tribunal ruled he had not proved his sexuality and remained a danger to the public.
Majdi has been serving half of his seven-year sentence for raping a 14-year-old girl he met online in 2017. The incident was described during trial as an 'opportunistic' and 'vile' attack that left the victim's thighs black and blue as Majdi pinned her down despite protests.
