Viktor Gyokeres Says He Wants To Finish The Season At Sporting

Viktor Gyokeres has admitted that he wants to finish the 2024/25 season at Sporting CP, according to the latest Fabrizio Romano transfer update.

Gyokeres is one of the most in-demand players in Europe with a host of top clubs being linked with the striking sensation. He recently netted a hat-trick against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

The Sweden international has thrived at Sporting since making his move from Coventry City in 2023. To date, Gyokeres has netted 66 times in just 68 appearances for the Portuguese giants.

Manchester United remain one of the favourites to sign Gyokeres, according to his next club odds. However, the player has confirmed he is staying put. For now.

Viktor Gyokeres Will Stay With Sporting Until The End Of The Season

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Sunday (November 17) that Viktor Gyokeres doesn’t plan to leave Sporting CP in the January transfer window.

I want to finish this season at Sporting. I love it here. New club? We will see when the time comes. I want to play, that’s crucial… and there will be also other factors,” Gyokeres said.

The news will likely come as a blow to new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. He was most recently Gyokeres’ manager in Lisbon and is keen to sign an out-and-out goalscorer.

Nonetheless, the Red Devils will reignite their interest in the 26-yer-old at the end of the current campaign. Currently, Gyokeres has a release clause of £83 million. In the summer, he can leave for just £63 million.

With that in mind, United won’t be the only side gunning for Gyokeres’ signature. Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all expected to join the race.

So to will continental giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid amongst others. Gyokeres will not be short of suitors, but a reunion with Amorim may be too hard to turn down.
