The Minnesota Vikings found another way to come from behind against the Washington Commanders after being down 10 in the fourth quarter to move to 7-1 with a 20-17 win.
The game itself saw some interesting surprises, including the back judge preventing an interception that turned into a 49-yard Curtis Samuel deep post touchdown.
The game itself saw some interesting numbers, including the snap counts. Let’s take a look at what stood out.
Offense
The biggest surprise was T.J. Hockenson playing 90% of the snaps. He wasn’t just on the field but he made a major impact with nine catches for 70 yards.
How much Hockenson played is a credit to his preparation and an indictment of both Johnny Mundt and C.J. Ham as they played a combined 24 snaps.
Defense
With Cameron Dantzler’s injury early in the game, Akayleb Evans saw extensive action and played very well. He played 45 plays which equated to 70% of snaps.
With Dalvin Tomlinson injured, the Vikings went to a committee to replace him. James Lynch (38%), Khyiris Tonga (30%) and Ross Blacklock (17%) split time.
Despite the conversation about getting Brian Asamoah getting more playing time, it hasn’t happened yet. He only played three snaps on Sunday.
Special teams
There aren’t a lot of surprises on here. Dan Chisena playing a lot on special teams makes perfect sense because that was why he was activated.
With the injury to Dantzler, it was disappointing to not see Andrew Booth Jr. get even one defensive snap. He only played 11 snaps on special teams.
