During his media availability on Monday afternoon, Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said they were opening up the 21-day practice window for inside linebacker Jordan Hicks.
After suffering an injury to his leg against the New Orleans Saints that developed compartment syndrome, Hicks has been on injured reserve. He had to have emergency surgery to relieve the pressure that was building up rapidly. That procedure was necessary as it could have escalated to Hicks potentially losing his leg.
His return would be really good for the depth on the Vikings defense but would he return as the starting inside linebacker and the green dot player? Rookie Ivan Pace Jr. has done an excellent job in that role in Hicks’ absence and they may want to continue his development.
Could Hicks return on Sunday afternoon? That is yet to be seen but his likely return before the end of the season will be a nice addition to the Vikings defense.
