The Minnesota Vikings have made their final selection of the 2023 NFL draft. With pick No. 222 of the NFL draft, the Vikings select UAB running back DeWayne McBride.
The Vikings were thought to be in the market for a running back this year because of the status of Dalvin Cook. The selection of McBride is an interesting one. He is the first player that played at a group of five school that was selected by Kwesi Adofo-Mensay. The first 15 were from power five schools.
As a running back, McBride runs like a car crash. He is physically dominant at the point of attack and can run through defenders with ease. He has great contact balance and his buildup speed is good in taking things to the next level.
The one major concern with McBride is that he’s a complete unknown in the receiving game. He has only five receptions for 29 yards, but as a runner, there aren’t any questions about his talent.
At this point in the draft, it’s a great value pick.
