The Minnesota Vikings have many needs to fill on their roster but for the first time in nearly a decade, the offensive line isn’t atop that list.
On Monday, Keith Sanchez released his latest mock draft for The Draft Network and had the Vikings selecting Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz.
The Vikings need a receiver opposite Justin Jefferson but they also need an upgrade on the interior of the offensive line. With this pick, they decide to upgrade the offensive line and draft John Michael Schmitz from Minnesota. Schmitz has the skill and motor to easily be a 10-year starter for the Vikings. – Sanchez
Schmitz is a great prospect and will be a good player at the next level, but it’s hard to see the Vikings spending their first-round pick on an interior offensive lineman, especially when they just re-signed Garrett Bradbury.
The Vikings have many other needs to address, and going offensive line in the first round would be a baffling decision.
