Vikings lose Akayleb Evans to leg injury

It’s been another up-and-down start for the Minnesota Vikings. They fumbled the ball on the first play of the game, leading to a Kansas City Chiefs touchdown on the ensuing drive. They fought back, thanks in part to a nice trick play, to go into halftime tied at 13. Now, it looks like they’ve lost one of their key defensive players, cornerback Akayleb Evans.

Evans initially went down late in the first quarter with an apparent knee injury. The injury was sustained on a short pass over the middle. Evans was injured on a short pass outside to Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney. He was injured again early in the third quarter, with what looked like an aggravation of the initial injury.

With Evans out, it’ll be up to Mekhi Blackmon to step up and provide coverage against this talented Chiefs offense. For a 1-3 team, the last thing they need is injuries, especially in the starting lineup.

It’s unclear at this time what the specific injury is, but the training staff was looking at Evans knee or leg. He is questionable to return.
