The Minnesota Vikings are making waves in free agency on Monday afternoon. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Vikings have agreed to terms with Houston Texans inside linebacker Blake Cashman on a three-year deal worth $25.5 million.
A former fifth round pick of the New York Jets in 2019, he played well as a rookie before only logging 36 snaps across the next two seasons on defense. Under DeMeco Ryans, Cashman thrived in 2023 posting a career-high 746 snaps with a 16.6% pressure rate and 120 tackles.
Cashmak grades out steady across the board as a run defender, tackler, pass rusher and cover guy per Pro Football Focus and that type of consistency is going to be huge for the Vikings and what Brian Flores wants to do on defense.
