This series will be your guide to the 2024 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.
The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.
The Vikings are slated to have 9 picks going into the NFL draft and they need to make the most out of them.
Background
Kris Abrams-Draine
- Missouri
- Height-5113
- Weight-173 lbs
- Fifth-year Senior
- 4-Star recruit per 247 Sports
- Stats: 136 tackles, 104 solo, 3.5 tackles for loss, 34 passes defended, 7 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery
- Games watched: Georgia 2023, Florida 2023, Tennessee 2023, LSU 2023
Strengths
Despite being a smaller player, Abrams-Draine is a sound and aggressive tackler. Only missed five tackles in 2023 with a missed tackle rate of only 7.5% in his career. He is a physical force in that department.
To pair with his tackling ability, Abrams-Draine is aggressive in attacking downhill. Has a quick trigger and an explosive click-and-close ability.
In coverage, he can stop on comebacks really quickly. Can put his foot in the ground and stop his momentum quickly
Weaknesses
Isn’t the most fluid in his lower half. When his leverage is attacked, Abrams-Draine can get a little choppy trying to turn when in coverage. To pair with that, he doesn’t have the reaction time or recognition to keep up stay with receivers when they bait him at the stem with a hard step in one direction.
He lacks the top end speed to consistently thrive on the outside. Doesn’t make up ground when he gets beaten at the break and can get stacked when attacked vertically.
Size looks to be a real concern for Abrams-Draine. He can get moved off of his spot easily with his small frame.

If you want a slot cornerback who can kick outside when needed, Abrams-Draine is the player for you. When you look at his size and lack of speed profile, the slot is probably his best fit.
