Vikings 2024 NFL draft scouting report: Louisville CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

Welcome to SKOL Search!

This series will be your guide to the 2024 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.

The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.

The Vikings are slated to have 9 picks going into the NFL draft and they need to make the most out of them.

Strengths

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Brownlee is a feisty player. Has zero issues getting dirty in run support, firing downhill quickly and with aggressiveness.

Doesn’t panic from the snap all the way through the rep. Stays Has the athleticism to undercut the route and force the quarterback to move away from him.

Physicality is his game. Gets up into the receivers face consistently and punches with power. Can get driven back by bigger, physical players but sustains his balance consistently.

Weaknesses

Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports

Size can be a little bit limiting as an outside cornerback. He has a slender frame and can get pushed around.

Brownlee can get beat with a quick inside release, He does recover well, but fixing that is important, especially if he ends up in the slot.

Ball production could be better. Only 5 PBUs in 2023 (16 in his career). Doesn’t attack the ball with the same enthusiasm you’d like to see.
