Welcome to SKOL Search!
This series will be your guide to the 2024 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.
The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.
The Vikings are slated to have 9 picks going into the NFL draft and they need to make the most out of them.

Strengths
Arnold is a really explosive athlete. He can change directions easily and explode out of the block in doing so. Arnold also has great closing speed and can make up ground quickly, which is especially evident when playing bail technique.
As a tackler, Arnold isn’t afraid to square you up. Like all of the Bama defensive backs, he hits hard and fast. Has the ability to shed blockers and make tackles in space.
At the line of scrimmage, Arnold does a good job staying in phase with the receiver and not allowing him to gain instant separation. Uses his hands well to disrupt the path of the wide receiver getting into their route.
Weaknesses
Can get taken advantage of in man coverage. Can commit with his hips too early and get beat without staying patient.
Receivers that are technically sound can give Arnold a hard time. They can take advantage of him trusting his athletic gifts and win with technique in both man and press coverage.

Arnold is the next great cornerback developed by Nick Saban. He excels at multiple things for the Crimson Tide and isn’t limited in either man coverage or zone coverage. If the Vikings were to take him at 11, it would be a good pick but it would be eating your vegetables for dessert.
