This series will be your guide to the 2023 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.
The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at wide receiver, running back, cornerback and both interior and edge pass rusher.
The Vikings are slated to have four picks before compensatory selections are awarded and they need to make the most out of them.
Background

Strengths
Robinson is a versatile player. Florida State played him everywhere and the snap counts this past season reflect that. While he plays everywhere and the coaching staff trusted him to do everything, he is best playing in the box or a deep third.
- Free safety-352
- Box-212
- Slot corner-167
- Defensive line-24
- Wide corner-1
No matter where Robinson lined up, he crashes hard downhill with intent. He is aggressive and lives up to his name Jammie. In coverage, he is a physical maven, especially at the top of the stem. That can get him into trouble, but he makes tight ends work for their separation.
In the open field, Robin exudes fluid hips and has really good change of direction. That shows in coveage where he can recover when he gets turned around. He also has a fluid backpedal.
Weaknesses
The major issues with Robinson stem from tackling. His angles are poor. He leaves himself open to cutbacks as he puts too much leverage on attacking the outside shoulder. When the ball carrier is on the outside, Robinson undershoots and allows them to get past.
Tackling is inconsistent. Robinson doesn’t wrap up well. He sometimes throws his body and arms at the ball carrier recklessly. When he does wrap up, he attacks too high and becomes less effective.

Robinson feels like a discount Brian Branch. Someone who can do a little bit of everything, except Robinson is best suited as a deep safety that flows into the box instead of playing in the slot. I don’t love him in man coverage, but he’s got range and potential as a point and shoot defender.
