Vijayawada: Upset inter student jumps into dam, dies

VIJAYAWADA: A 17-year-old boy committed suicide in Puchakayalapalle village of Peddaraveedu mandal after failing in his intermediate exams by jumping off a dam. Before taking the extreme step, he texted his brother and friends saying that he was committing suicide. Police said the student was mentally disturbed after failing in exams.

The deceased was identified as Vajrala Ashok Reddy (17), a second-year intermediate MPC group student at a private college in Markapuram town. He was undergoing coaching for Eamcet exams in Nandyal town. However, Ashok did not pass the intermediate exams, the results of which were released on Wednesday. On Thursday, he arrived at his hometown from Nandyala and spent time with parents, brother and sister.

After his elder brother Adinarayana Reddy went to work in the farm, Ashok went to Veligonda project dam site near his village and sent a message on WhatsApp to his brother and friends in Jamanapalle village that said ‘I am dying’. Ashok jumped off the 400 feet dam and died on the spot.
