There have been hundreds of reports of a huge multi-coloured 'fireball' in the sky above the UK and Ireland last night, Wednesday, September 14. The sightings started in Edinburgh, moving eastwards across Scotland and into Northern Ireland and Ireland - as far south as Dublin and Wicklow.
The UK Meteor Network said it received more than 200 reports by 10.34pm - with most sightings coming from Northern Ireland and Scotland. Most of the sightings started from around 9pm, with the object streaking east to west across the night sky.
In a tweet at 10.20pm, the Meteor Network said it had received "83 fireball reports and counting" - later adding "Most reports come from Scotland and Northern Ireland. Just surpassed 200."
