Video: Would it be wise for Alexa Grasso to challenge UFC champ Valentina Shevchenko next?

Alexa Grasso looked good in her first UFC headliner this past Saturday as she earned an impressive unanimous decision win over Viviane Araujo at UFC Fight Night 212.

The result means Grasso, 29, is on a four-fight winning streak since moving up to the women’s flyweight division in August 2020, making her a prime candidate to challenge champion Valentina Shevchenko. Grasso, who has six years and 10 fights of UFC experience, said afterward that she would prefer one more headlining act before taking a shot at Shevchenko, who’s been nearly untouchable during her title reign.

Is that the right play, or should Grasso challenge Shevchenko now? Moreover, is there any concern that she’s not ready for Valentina?

Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Brian “Goze” Garcia, Nolan King and Matthew Wells answered those questions with host “Gorgeous” George. You can watch their discussion in the video above. You can also check out this week’s complete episode below.

“Spinning Back Clique” is released each Monday LIVE on MMA Junkie’s YouTube channel.
