Years after her first title shot, Raquel Pennington finally claimed UFC gold this past Saturday at UFC 297 where she outworked Mayra Bueno Silva to win a lopsided unanimous decision and the vacant 135-pound title.
Pennington’s performance was a far cry from the only other time she fought for gold in May 2018, when she was ready to quit on the school during a beatdown against then-champ Amanda Nunes.
