Netflix’s Quarterback has revealed a lot of stuff we didn’t know about Patrick Mahomes.
We saw his fury after injuring his ankle in the Divisional Round of last year’s playoffs. Other footage caught him admitting he thinks the Cincinnati Bengals are better than the Buffalo Bills. We even got a delightful taste of how he can trash-talk an opposing defense, which in this case, was the San Francisco 49ers.
But I can’t say I saw the NFL’s face — who earned nearly $27 million last year and is in the midst of a $450 million contract — worrying about increasing prices for Airbnb bookings. That’s exactly what a video from Super Bowl 57 media night showed.
In a conversation with Jalen Hurts on stage, Mahomes revealed he booked his family’s Airbnb for Super Bowl 57 three months in advance.
Why? He wanted to beat the application’s inevitable price surge once everyone else descended into the Phoenix area and started reserving places to stay.

I don’t think this was about his expectations for the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason at all. Even if Kansas City didn’t make the Super Bowl, he would’ve likely been in Arizona for the NFL Honors anyway. I respect that Mahomes wanted to budget and save some money where he could.
But it’s such a strange flex for one of the richest players in the sport to talk about affordability for something he could totally afford and then some.
Here's how fans reacted to Mahomes booking his Airbnb three months in advance on Twitter
I don’t want to sound like a hater, but doesn’t Airbnb let you cancel & get a refund up until like a day before you check in?
Not to mention Patrick Mahomes is, yknow, incredible & probably had an inkling he’d be up for MVP.
Chalking this up as common sense. https://t.co/aYBvHx9SMP

My takeaway is that the gentleman with the $450 million contract is still keeping an eye on price increases https://t.co/izTzYUGNuq

Maybe because he’s just smart. He knew he was gonna be in Phoenix during the SB whether he was playing or not. Why not go ahead and lock in the rate 🌚🌚🌚 https://t.co/YzMs6moYpa

Honestly I just thought it was hilarious that he was concerned about the price going up 😂 https://t.co/5Cbn2hR0mP

the NFL honors are held in the same city and week so even if it wasn't being used for the super bowl I'm sure he would've used it anyways lol https://t.co/rETALTyPB6

I’m sure a lot of SB favorite teams do this. Could you imagine trying to book an Airbnb the week of?? https://t.co/ElJ8GN7muL

I mean, he could’ve just canceled. This supposed to be an underdog story??? https://t.co/vzSALiCytn

Such a big time commitment for a guy making 30+ mil a year to book an air bnb 3 months in advance. How would he have survived if they didn’t make the big game? https://t.co/60Lje0woNx

He was going to be there whether in the Super Bowl or not. A lot of players are there for SB week…. https://t.co/4cEBBp8Gj4
