
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Black man who was face-down on the ground was fatally shot in the back of the head by a police officer in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the violent climax of a traffic stop, foot chase and fight over a stun gun, according to videos of the April 4 incident released Wednesday.
Citing a need for transparency, Grand Rapids’ new police chief Eric Winstrom, a former high-ranking Chicago police commander, made public four videos of the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya.
