The UFC welterweight division could soon host a significant matchup with Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns.
After Burns (20-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) told MMA Junkie in August that he was seeking a fight with Masvidal (35-16 MMA, 12-9 UFC) and the UFC was on board, things have progressed slowly. Masvidal has been occupied with his legal situation, while Burns has been chomping at the bit to step back in the octagon.
The Brazilian had his frustrations boil over in recent days, when he took a shot at Masvidal for slowing the process. Masvidal took exception and fired back, telling Burns to get on his timeline or find another person to fight.
It remains to be seen if the UFC will officially book the matchup, while also speculating on how winnable it is for Masvidal after a three-fight losing skid.
Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Matt Wells, Mike Bohn and Brian “Goze” Garcia answered those questions with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia. You can watch their discussion in the video above and check out this week’s full episode below.
