A New Zealand pilot being held hostage in Indonesia's remote Papua region has warned his family that his ordeal "could go on for a long time", in a message sent via the rebels who are holding him captive.
It is now more than a month since Captain Philip Mehrtens was seized and taken hostage after he landed a small Susi Airlines plane last month in the remote highlands of central Papua.
