On the same day that Saquon Barkley spoke publicly about this contract situation with the Giants, he played an even more important role for one of his fans: matchmaker.
As Barkley left the practice field on Thursday, a fan holding a sign with a very specific request caught his eye. The sign read: “Saquon—my ex will take me back if you sign this.”
That left the two-time Pro Bowler with only one thing to do: sign the sign.
Barkley acquiesced to the request, certainly making the young fan’s day (and perhaps giving him another chance at love in the process).

Barkley and the team agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $11 million just before the start of training camp. The deal ended a lengthy saga in which the two-time Pro Bowler mentioned the possibility of sitting out the season, though he ultimately decided that would not have brought about a positive resolution.
However Barkley’s 2023 season goes, he’s already made perhaps the biggest save of the year in giving his young fan renewed hope—both for his love life and for New York’s offense. Of course, the interaction inspired plenty of responses on social media, so enjoy a sampling of the bunch below.
