Francis Ngannou became one of the biggest free agents in MMA history in January when he left the UFC.
Ngannou parted ways with the promotion while still its heavyweight champion when the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract. The Ngannou side has said it wasn’t all about money, either. It’s well known Ngannou wants to box, too, and so far the UFC only has let one of its contracted fighters have a dalliance in boxing while still with the company, and that was Conor McGregor in 2017.
Now Ngannou finds himself being courted by every other major MMA promotion, as well as the likes of BKFC and boxers – including former heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder.
Wilder came up with an intriguing proposition for Ngannou: a two-fight package that would be one boxing match and one in MMA, so each fighter gets a shot in his home combat sport.
Is that the route Ngannou should take? Should he think seriously about the PFL or Bellator? What about BKFC? What’s best for Ngannou’s next move?
That’s the question we asked this week’s “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Brian “Goze” Garcia, Nolan King and Dan Tom. They broke it down with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.
