Victoria Beckham's gruelling workout routine and strict diet with 'banned' foods

Victoria Beckham is famously known for her slim figure and her iconic sense of style since she first rose to fame as a former member of the Spice Girls in the 1990's. As effortless as her beauty may seem, the mum-of-four works excessively hard to maintain her youthful appearance as she recently opened up about her strict fitness regime and the same meal she has eaten for the past 25 years.

It comes as the fashion designer flaunted her figure in workout clothes on Instagram as she lifted weights in the gym over the weekend.

While some stars prefer to keep their beauty secrets to themselves, Posh Spice has always been pretty open about her workout routine and how she keeps her jaw dropping figure in tip top shape.

What is Victoria's diet?

Regardless of the occasion, the fashion designer sticks with her simple choice of grilled fish and steamed vegetables for her main meal of the day and refuses to eat any sort of food cooked in oil, butter or sauces. Victoria usually opts for a liquid breakfast as she told Net-A-Porter: "Each morning, the first thing I do is have three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, followed by a mug of hot water and lemon and multiple coffees."

The mother-of-four also refrains from indulging in dairy products or red meat and previously revealed that her comfort meal is wholegrain toast with salt on it. Posh Spice will not even deviate from her strict diet on her own birthday as she celebrated her 44th birthday with a birthday cake made purely out watermelon and decorated with blueberries and strawberries.

The singer previously admitted during an interview on the River Cafe’s Table 4 podcast that she is likely to be every restaurant's 'worst nightmare' because of her strange food choices. However, she previously hit back at her husband David Beckham who made a dig at his wife about her repetitive eating habits during a podcast interview while discussing his own love for his favourite foods.

Defending her diet decisions, Victoria said: "Talk about making me sound boring! No. What he meant is that he's never met anyone who's more disciplined with the way that they eat. I eat lots of healthy fat: fish, avocado, nuts, that sort of thing."

The star does not completely limit herself in all departments as she says she does allow herself to drink alcohol but will often detox for three to six months if she has a reason to.

Workout routine

It seems Victoria doesn't often give herself much of a break, as she confessed to Vogue that she completes two workouts each morning that can sometimes make her 'feel physically sick'. Her gruelling workout regime can begin as early as 5:30am each morning as she squeezes in a 45 minute treadmill run before dropping her youngest child, Harper, 10, off for school.

The star told the Guardian's Weekend Magazine that despite the gruelling early morning starts, this is actually one of her favourite times of the day as she allows herself a time to catch up on her most loved TV shows and box sets. The style guru is then straight back into her fitness regime with her personal trainer Bobby Rich who puts her through an hour-long weights session starting with a 30-minute leg workout which is followed by another half hour of arms, toning and conditioning.

The singer recently discovered her new found love for weight lifting which she told Grazia she previously used to be 'scared' of. Bobby Rich introduced Victoria to lifting which she says has helped tone up her muscles and build up a lot of strength.

The singer often shares her fitness sessions on Instagram where her handsome husband David Beckham works out alongside her. Their trainer will often encourage them to healthily compete against one another in a range of tiring workouts from plank contests to reflex games.

Victoria previously took to Instagram to share a cheeky snap of her shirtless husband as she wrote: “While one of us works really hard… the other one looks great not doing much".

She usually finishes off her fitness regime with a post gym protein shake while she enjoys a well deserved rest.

Media scrutiny

It's certainly not the first time that Victoria's extreme diet has hit the headlines over the years. The star is well aware of the scrutiny around her strict diet and admitted during an interview with Grazia that striving for a skinny figure is now a thing of the past.

Victoria opened up about how she is pleased that her daughter is growing up in a society where women embrace their natural curves. The Beckham family spend quite a lot of time in Miami after David Beckham partly bought over the Inter Miami Football Team and the mum has praised the 'curvy' and 'confident' women that walk around Miami Beach who are great role models for her youngest child.

She said: "They show their bodies off with such confidence. I found both their attitude and their style really liberating. And as a mother, I loved that Harper was around women who were really celebrating their curves and enjoying how they look."
