David and Victoria Beckham have been criticised by fans after sharing topless pictures of son Cruz, 17, from a photoshoot.

The Beckhams posted pictures online to show their pride in their 17-year-old son and gave him their support.

Ms Beckham shared the photographs from the photoshoot for i-D magazine on Instagram on Monday, a day after Cruz turned 17.

But some fans criticised the shoot for the magazine’s “Out of Body” issue in which pink-haired Cruz was photographed shirtless.

Among the comments, one said on Instagram in response to the pictures: “These photos were taken when he was 16 which makes it even more inappropriate. A 16 year old should not be sexualized in this way.”

Others added: “Bit much for a 17 Yr old.”

“Terrific parenting, you should be ashamed of yourself.”

The former Spice Girls star shared six different photos across three posts, with the caption, “Big first day as a 17-year-old! So proud".

Her husband also posted seven images from the shoot which were taken by photographer Steven Klein.

Klein had previously photographed David for Homme Plus magazine 2000 which Victoria also posted with the caption, “he learned from the best”.

While some had criticised the photoshoot, others expressed their support and gushed over the magazine shoot.

Among the comments, one fan said: “Happiest of Birthdays, youth is for expressing yourself.”

Another added: “Like father like son.”

In his interview for the magazine, the famous offspring opened up about his music career saying he had decided to pursue being a recording artist after a spell of wanting to become a football player.

He said he had spent time in the studio with top producers such as Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins and songwriter Poo Bear, the mastermind behind many of Justin Bieber’s hits.

The realisation he could pursue a career in music came when he sang Love on Top by Beyoncé in the car as a child and hit the high notes, he said.

“I was still really little! My voice hadn’t really developed, so I could just sing that high,” he said.

His influences are The Weeknd, J. Cole and Kid Cudi.

He added: “I don’t think you ever stop learning, but I’m taking my time seeing what happens.”
