A victim of a violent assault by a Summernats crowd security worker has vowed he will never return to the event despite attending for the past 14 years.
During a physical confrontation between security and patrons, three victims were repeatedly punched in the head and torso, kicked while on the ground and threatened.
Crowd security worker Fogasavaii Matailupevao Pelepesite Pagaialii, 30, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday for his part in the attack.
His lawyer, Simon Rooke, indicated pleas of guilty to two charges of joint commission assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and a single charge of common assault. Seven other charges are expected to be withdrawn.
Co-accused Murphy Faigalotu Meafua has also been charged in relation to the incident.
Court documents state the confrontation occurred during the car festival at Exhibition Park on January 6, 2024.
Patrons were required to stand behind a white line near the cruise route, which was restricted to Summernats vehicles.
About 4.30pm another crowd control worker called for back-up due to patrons climbing over concrete barriers and onto the route while burnouts were being conducted.
The three victims and numerous others were on the cruise route when crowd security tried to push them back.
During the ensuing chaos, Pelepesite Pagaialii punched the men in the face and threatened "I will kill you", while also hitting one of the victims 10 times in the head and torso.
He also kicked one of the men while he lay on the ground.
Members of the public then "heavily surrounded the area" with many filming the assaults on their mobile phones.
One of the victims suffered a laceration to his lip, which required internal and external stitches, and a fractured hand.
Another had a concussion and bruising and was hospitalised after vomiting blood.
All three victims told police of ongoing fear of security workers since the attack.
Pelepesite Pagaialii remains on bail and is set to face court again in January 2025.
